Angeles City Execs Welcome China’s Offer to Build Clark-Manila Railway
ANGELES CITY, Pampanga – The city of Angeles said they are excited about the offer from China to build the Clark-Manila Railway, a railway that will offer high-speed bullet trains.
Angeles City Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan said the ongoing issues with Scarborough and the South China Sea should not be part of the discussion should the railways be built throughout the Philippines.
Pamintuan said the agreement would spur development throughout the entire country.
China has now gained recognition for the fastest trains in the world, even after a few ‘speed’ bumps along the way, including a tragic wreck in July,2011 near the city of Wenzhou. That accident claimed the lives of over 40 people, as well as injuring over 200.
The proposal to build the railways throughout the Philippines is welcomed by incoming Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte. He has given his approval to build a fast railway system that will connect Clark to Metro Manila.
Advocates of the Clark International Airport (CRK) have pushed for the railway system for several years. The proposal would allow Clark to become a major hub in the country, while decongesting NAIA Airport in Manila.
Those same advocates know that the fast railway system will help transport passengers quickly, and will assist the entire region with decongesting vehicular traffic.
President Duterte is said to be keeping his eye on the project to reaffirm his election promise to help Manila, Quezon City, Pampanga and many other heavily congested areas to bring traffic and affordable mass transportation to the area.
